History & Mission

Since 1964, George Jury has led the effort to permanently protect miles of wilderness. What began as a small dream to protect 400 acres of wilderness has grown to over 2000 acres today.

Our Mission

George Jury is the founder of Greenwood Wildlife Sanctuary. He and his late wife had the dream and mission to conserve the natural state of the land, protect the wildlife, and allow for the education and study of nature in its pristine state. This project is solely funded by Greenwood Foundation, a private operating foundation committed to protect the land permanently.

What We’ve Achieved

  • Successfully protected hundreds of wildlife

  • Successful Michigan Turkey re-planting began on the property

  • Forestry Plan in place to provide habitat for thousands of wildlife creatures

  • Introducing kids of all ages to wildlife and nature

  • Sharing property with countless select outdoor enthusiasts including birdwatchers, snowshoers, cross-country skiers, and hikers and more!
